Zimbabwe dollars, Zimbabwe dollars for sale!

*After the collapse of the agriculture sector in Zimbabwe in 2000, the inflation in that country skyrocketed to 231 million percent a year. In July, Zimbabwe's troubled central bank introduced $100 billion banknotes in a desperate bid to ease the recurrent cash shortages plaguing the inflation-ravaged economy. As high as they are, though, the new note is equal to just one U.S. dollar and the bills still aren't enough to buy a loaf of bread. They can buy only four oranges. Zimbabwes inflation rate has soared to 11.2 million percent, the highest in the world, according to the countrys Central Statistical Office. While our case has been aggravated by the illegal sanctions imposed by the Western powers, rising food prices are a world phenomenon because of the use of bio-fuel, said Samuel Mumbengegwi. But we will continue to fight inflation by making sure that prices charged are realistic. In February, the price of a loaf of bread in the country was less than 200,000 Zimbabwe dollars. In October, that same loaf of bread cost 1.6 trillion Zimbabwe dollars. Recent figures (as of 14 November 2008) estimate Zimbabwe's annual inflation rate at 89.7 sextillion (1021) percent. The troubled President Robert Mugabe announced that he is ready to mend relations with the United States following Barack Obamas victory in the presidential election. He congratulated Obama and said he hoped to work with him to tackle the challenges facing developing countries, and wanted to improve bilateral relations.

  • I wish Zimbabweans at least kick that monkey-ass of his out of his throne along with his ass-government. Mismanagement is his trademark.

  • @lithopoonwit the fuck are you talking about?

  • It's because England and the Jews have stolen all the gold, and put some black fool for president, one whom is controllable.

  • @hpd707

That is under the current price of metals. The standard for gold and silver prices is 16:1. A while ago it was more like 2:1(I THINK). Before the FEDERAL RESERVE. By this new(or OLD) way of pricing metal that 3 dollar silver quarter may be worth $274. This will change becasue of the scacity of the metal. The ratio of 2:1 was as old as gold and silver currency. Silver has always been roughly half the price of gold until the creation of global banks, markets and economies.

  • That would be a pre-1965 silver dime. And that probably wouldn't be enough. More like a pre-1965 silver quarter...

  • That sounds about right. That comes to 3 US dollars per loaf, which is what you pay here for real bread (not the bleached crap that passes for bread). Don't laugh too hard, though. We might be doing the same here in the US within a few years. A pre-1964 silver dime for a loaf of bread?
