Norfolk Academy 1986 Senior Prank - Filling up the Pit

On April 1 of their senior year, the Class of 1986 ran nine hoses all night long to turn the Pit (aka the Forum) at Norfolk Academy into a giant swimming pool. Dozens of students spent the night on campus, and a good time was had by all - but the highlight was unmistakeably when Patti "Bat" Masterson joined the class for an early morning swim.

there was speciel about the top 10 greatest senior pranks and this is on of them ps i go to NA now in 6th grade and they have drains in the pit now

Yep, they had drains back then too - we taped them over with duct tape.

One of the guys in our class was very worried that all the water rushing through them would make the building behind the Pit (now the administration building) collapse in on itself.

Happily, that didn't happen.

Things are different today. But those of you who want to do senior pranks these days need to find ways to do something awesome within the context of your times.

In my day, all we had was hoses, and time.

So boredpotatoe2 (et al) ... no, we weren't arrested. Maybe you're thinking of the end of the video for "Where the Streets Have No Name" - my classmates and I are often mistaken for U2 band members, although the truth is, they're older than us.

OK, this is Ned Lilly, class of '86 (that's 1986 for all you youngsters out there - as in the last century, when there was a Soviet Union and other Things Like That), reclaiming his Youtube identity from his internet-savvy elder daughter (and yes, I've changed my password).

You guys have to understand, when we did this, there were no lawyers on the entire Earth. That's why NA couldn't get sued when we did something so a) crazy, and b) expensive.

Whenever we start talking about senior pranks at school, I tell everybody about this. And they kind of already know, and they say it's kind of annoying. But whatever. By the way, some of the clothing here is so 80's. LOL.
