In June I bought this really nice 1962 Austin Cambridge A60 Deluxe. Since it´s sold in sweden it´s a left hand drive. It had one owner from 1962 to 2003 and has rolled 25.000 Km only, is practically rust free and mechanically in great condition. I just changed head gasket, went through the SU carb and changed the front left damper and the car drives absolutely great. This british gentleman asked for some good old british pop music for it´s soundtrack so I gave it Kinks "drivin" which seems to suit so well...

Morris, Oxford and Riley plus two other european cars

with close kinship (Farina draw them all) namely the

Peugeot 404 and the Fiat 1300/1500.

  • Overhere in the Netherlands British cars sold well in the sixties and fifties.

We loved their 12 volt system that ensured starting on cold mornings, their rugged, but simple and relyable engines, their elegant design and their luxury interiors, with leather, wood and carpets.

But in the seventies things went horribly wrong.

  • last of the tanks the metal is 3 times the thickness of modern cars.

i restored the riley 4/72 twin carb and walnut dash in 1978.

  • I was given one of these in 1968, actually a Morris Oxford, to run-in by my company when it had 20 miles on the clock before it was released to the fleet. I was 17 at the time. It smelt lovely with the new leather seats. Even then it was an old fashioned design and well behind the Fords of the day.

  • Great buy, I like when you see their "age"...I wouldn't restore (?) too much on it...

  • this lookes like a manual but i saw only 2 pedles on the floor ? is there no clutch ? how dose it work please,

    thanks,. !

  • Yes, here are sold, first as Siam Di Tella 1500 (1960 to 1963), then change its name to Morris 1650, Magnette 1650 and Riley 1650, by the year of manufactured until 1967. The 404 and 1500 came in 65 '. Sincerely!

  • I had one of those, Mine was a 1966 automatic, with red leather interior. Nice, but it was very rusty!!
