This is a segment from the "James Wright's Ohio" 30 minute film and docu-drama made by Tom Koba and Larry Smith featuring two of James Wright's poems with visual story images: "A Flower Passage" and "Beautiful Ohio". Also included are statements from Wright, William Matthews, and the film's narration. Set in the Ohio Valley in and around Wright's beloved Martins Ferry, Ohio. Tom passed away a few years ago, but his fine work goes on.
The film is being transferred to dvd and will be available from Bottom Dog Press, Inc. in the near future. http://smithdocs.net

  • This selection is freighted with "the imaginative baggage" William Matthews refers to, a weight that we carry like the rest of our history: sometimes with the ease of Youth and sometimes with the knowledge that there is a great darkness at the heart of this world. This is a first-rate presentation--I say that having seen the full 30-minute film. A gift from the folks at Bottom Dog, to be sure.
