@ninebreaker21 The Shadows teamed up with Burns for a short while thus made the Burns Hank Marvin model. Hank's Strat, I believe, was bought by Cliff as a present for him and was apparently the first one imported into the UK at the time. In the US, The Ventures were using Mosrite guitars, if I recall rightly.

@andybassman67 Both. He was supposedly the first Strat player in the UK. The band found a Fender catalog, figured the Tele was a rhythm guitar, and bought a red/pink Strat with gold hardware for the Hank's lead. Hank's why Mark Knopfler painted his Strat red. One secret to Hank's tone is the Vox AC15, same amp Lennon used. Chimey, midrangey. Opposite of the Fender amp sound, so it's a good compliment to a Mosrite or Fender guitar.

This wasn't 1962, but 1964.
I'm quite sure, because I was there in Brussels, Palais des Beaux Arts.

@john441220 Thank you. And I can add that this footage was filmed on 8 May 1964 in Liege.
