@lichtbroeder Oh, ok. I don't know who you are, but I wasn't talking to you. So you can go fuck yourself. Thanks.

@saflsogdsgj I never met brother Arnold, but I did meet Sister Frances, and remember Sisters Mildred, Minnie, Elizabeth, Brother Ted Johnson, and others, from time spent with the community in the 70's. Bro. Arnold Hadd wasn't even there yet! I too was interested in membership, but decided that I wasn't cut out for it. I wouldn't say that there numbers are thriving (then or now) but they do welcome interested people, and are a joy to work, interact, and worship with.

@Back2The50sPlease An unwarranted angry and obscene comment left here, of all places? I spent two summers living with the Maine Shaker community, and they most certainly do accept new members. Membership in the society WAS indeed closed back in the 1950's or 60's by Shaker elders who resided at the Canterbury N.H. community, but the Sabbathday Lake Shakers never agreed to this, and court litigation ensued. As an "educated person", you might at least look at their website.

@saflsogdsgj I highly doubt anything you are saying. You don't know what you are talking about. You are NOT becoming one of them as they no longer accept new members, and their numbers are NOT thriving as you say, because of their choice to accept no more members. So keep the bullshit to yourself, as the educated people don't want to hear it.

I have met the Shakers Sister Francis and Brother Hadd. As I am one of the few people that are in the first stages of becoming one of them.
The Shakers are wonderful humble Christians and their numbers are thriving today. They have a very bright future ahead of them so don't worry anyone.
God Bless
