Could sound worse, would go much better I'd imagine.... look up a VW golf without an exhasut... thats a terrible sound

This is untrue as boost is controlled directly by the wastegate and its actuator. Boost will be controlled regardless of the "pressure" past the exhaust turbine, however the engine may run lean/rich if the O2 sensor (located near the cat) is not being used. And the common myth of "backpressure" = power or " engines need backpressure" is so ridiculous people should laugh when they hear it.

had the 3.5 inch dump pipe into atmosphere goin yesterday.. my god its loud on boost. and it actually sounds like a highly strung Supra or something.. very cool haha

I wouldnt do that to my XR6T but ive got my daily whore. An old EF Wagon and I opened up the flange about 1.5inches.. My god its loud... Ppl seem more intimidated by it more so then the 6T.

the reason it sounds so bad is due to how loud it is, it distorts the sound because the microphone is too sensitive. Any commodore or falcon without an exhaust is FUCKING LOUD!!!
