@dsatnik BRAVO! Excellent! Well said!

@d2099y Except when an accident occurs and forces taxpayers to pay for cleaning up the mess. That's why no private insurance company insures nuclear plants.
It's entirely government-subsidized, forcing the taxpayers to pay for it.
And no women were ever "pressured" to have an abortion.
It is good that they did, for a host of OTHER reasons.
Their kids would be forced to starve and go homeless.

@EschatologyGal True. But miserably. Let's perform surgery on you without the benefit of electricity to monitor the anesthesia, lights, etc - i.e. let's perform surgery on you without anesthesia.
-
@mphello People lived thousands of years WITHOUT electricity.

Ok Caldicott 11m17s: suppose you've got your informed democracy, but suppose 50.01% of them, or 99.9% of them, or even all of them (except you) still want nuclear power? Suppose they think dying by cancer is better than dying from a lack of electricity. What then? (Of course, this would have to be a really dumb population that didn't believe in wind and solar power.) You NEVER offer ANY solutions to ANYTHING. You're definitely not an engineer or a politician or even a TRUE activist.

4m6s Even if there were no ill effects from radiation, it is THIS fact alone: the free subsidies for nukes - that enrages me the most and is cause enough to shut them all down. And, yes, even Caldicott should not be believed point-blank (re: the ill-health effects) without criticism - I have NOT read and her work - IF I were to make policy on nuclear power, obviously then I should.
