"We Built This City" by "Starship"

Songtext:

We built this city,
We built this city on rock and roll

Say you don't know me, or recognize my face
Say you don't care who goes to that kind of place
Knee deep in the hoopla, sinking in your fight
Too many runaways eating up the night

Marconi plays the Mamba,
Listen to the radio
Don't you remember?
We built this city
We built this city on rock and roll!
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll

Someone always playing corporation games
Who cares they're always changing corporation names
We just want to dance here, someone stole the stage
They call us irresponsible, write us off the page

Marconi plays the Mamba,
Listen to the radio
Don't you remember?
We built this city
We built this city on rock and roll!
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll

It's just another Sunday in a tired old street
Police have got the choke hold, and we just lost the beat

Who counts the money underneath the bar
Who rides the wrecking ball into our guitars
Don't tell us you need us, 'cause we're the ship of fools
Looking for America, crawling through your schools

Don't you remember ...

Marconi plays the Mamba,
Listen to the radio -
Don't you remember?
We built this city,
We built this city on rock and roll
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll

We built, we built this city yeah
We built this city
We built, we built this city
(Repeat - fade)

  • Great song from the 80s!! A time when music was solid, not like this bubble gum shit we have to endure these days!! I mean lets face it, snatch flashing trolls trying to be singers gets boring after a while!!

  • @Wildgeese73 It's funny, because 30 years ago people used this song as an example of how much modern music sucked. This song was widely played, but also widely hated at the same time. It just isn't a rock anthem even though the lyrics pretend it is. If you want a rock anthem, check out Joan Jett's "I Love Rock & Roll."

  • This is a disgrace to music. I don't want to live in this world anymore!

  • @Wildgeese73 You're an idiot. I don't like the top 40 style music today, but if you think that the music in the top 40 represents all the music that's around today, you're either extremely lazy or extremely ignorant. There are thousands and thousands of bands who still write their music for emotion, and yes I do love music like this song, but if you can't find anything decent by bands currently producing music, you're not looking hard enough. And that's your fault, not theirs.

  • @lildan217 ya I know I'm glad at least we have the technology to save songs like this one. But I would want to be born around 50/60 years ago in the good days man.

  • Why couldnt I of been born 30 years ago...

  • bso included in film the muppets 2011

  • wbtc nation!!!!!

  • jajaja ke loco!!

  • hahahahahahahahaha so baked ahhahaha
