A replay that I found on a japanese site. This is said to be the hardest boss in shmup history... as far as I know, no one ever has beat this boss without continues. this is probably the nightmare of all shmup players...

Why care about which game is harder? Touhou is completely different from this, they probably have different mechanics so one part that is hard on Touhou might be easier on this and vice versa. Plus, it's not a competition on which game is harder, just enjoy the game or don't, no reason to compare it to a different game. You are no worse than people who compare Call of Duty and other games.

Had this not been (what seems) to be an arcade game it would be alot less impressive, but seeing as you say it's japanese that makes sense this is an arcade game :P
