This video shows an operational cutaway of a BMW S1000RR — a 193HP superbike — bumping against its 14,200RPM redline. A cam and valvetrain at 118 cycles per second is an amazing sight (and sound)

  • i think its hitting vtec

  • I'm still driving my 1995 Mercury Mystique DOHC and I think it's the engine I like so much. Should I buy a 6 cylinder Rav4 or a Subaru or what do you think?

  • very nice!

  • @Mmierks that valve spring spinning is not designed in to it the valve spring turning like that can cause valve float witch is bad drag racers have worked on eliminating that to get more tq and higher rpm

  • Interesting Vid!

  • @Jomcdk It's smoking. The parts are moving fast, causing heat which causes the engine oil to burn off a bit. If you run any internal combustion engine a bit hard and shut it down then pull the oil filler cap off you'll see smoke coming out of the valve pan cover. This is why they say not to shut an engine off immediately after it has been run at a very high speed. those parts are hot and the oil cools them down. Shut off the engine and the oil isn't being pumped in. Heat=engine failure.

  • Shit is going so fast it's standing still and spinning springs lol

  • love this clip ^_^
