This video shows an operational cutaway of a BMW S1000RR — a 193HP superbike — bumping against its 14,200RPM redline. A cam and valvetrain at 118 cycles per second is an amazing sight (and sound)

Double overhead cams with shim under bucket cam followers made a an appearance at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a French Pugout automobile in 1914. The design came from Belgum. Gee I wish I could spell). This engine has finger cam followers instead of inverted bucket with shims.

See my reply to Breze84. I think we would hear a ringing sound if the valves were bouncing (floating) off the rocker arms (fingers) being acticulated by the over head cams. I did not hear such a ringing sound so I believe there was no valve floating. I also told him you could have used strobe lights and high speed film as another way to check for valve float.
