This recording is believed to be from a three-show run at the Fillmore West, December 21-23, 1967 when the original lineup was briefly together again. There are a handful of recordings of live Buffalo Springfield shows but as far as I know only this one has both Neil and Bruce. The sound quality is a little fudgey but the performance is fantastic.

  • A banda Buffalo Springfield e´,paramim, uma das melhores bandas de rock,de todos os tempos.A musica On The Way Home foi escrita pelo Neil Young,um legitimo artista.

  • Fantastic song (when you can really hear it) and I guess some of you should know is was Neil's lover-goodbye kiss-off song and thank you very much to the Buffalo Springfield. Could have more meanings but listen and I think that is the best interpretation a moron as me or Neil could make.

  • awesome. thanks!

  • The comments "This was my baby" by Stephen and "So I drowned it in the bathtub!" are hilarious! Great job.

  • @MrECUELLAR Neil Young wrote it. Perfect for the times!

  • the guitar work (fills and passing tones) are mostly Steve, with Neil playing nicely as well. the driving rythmn guitar is pure Richie as well.. In fact, Richie held down the middle muscially on most of their songs. In fact richie switched to the gibson 12 string early on to give the band more bite in that regard

  • the lead vocal is pure Richie. He sang on the recording. there are demos (bootlegs) of Neil singing the song (he wrote it), but Richie was really the main singer. Remember, the first song they ever played together as a group was "nowadays clancy cant even sing", another song written by Neil but sung beautifully by richie.

  • Stills' fills are amazing. Listen carefully.

  • If Neil had sung the Springfield version, surely it would have been included in the "Decade" compilation with Mr. Soul, et al.

The Springfield versions, live and studio, with Richie singing lead, are in "A", and the Neil/CSNY versions with Neil singing lead, are in "D"...
