so where's the 2nd coming and all that jizz? guess it never happens, and charlie's just fine with all that? the end, LOL, was probably rooted in some gun control law... he he.
I always thought this was one of the most dramatic scenes ever made in a movie. Short, but powerful. Heston's genius was his ability to lend credibility to film plots that might otherwise have been ridiculous. Here he plays a man in a future earth run by apes and it plays very well. Doesn't come across as silly or stupid. I can't say the same for the remake.
