Sonic The Hedgehog Walkthrough Part 4 Labyrinth

Here is me doing a walkthrough for Sonic The Hedgehog for the Sega master system. Personally i prefer this sonic over the genesis version because i find it more fun to play. Through out the walkthrough i will collect all of the chaos emeralds and play all of the bonus games. In this part of the walkthrough i will be doing the Labyrinth zone. This zone is the slowest zone out of all of them plus you have the anoying timer under water but apart from that its a good zone and the music's catchy.

Something I'm quite interested in finding out, what happens if sonic dies underwater? I know that if he stays under the water too long he falls more slowly and bubbles come under his mouth but what happens if he dies from being touched by an enemy? Does he just fall to the bottom of the screen normally same as on the "land" levels or in the same way as he does if he's underwater too long?

its a checkpoint box so when you die you dont have to start the level all over again.
