"Living Darfur" è stato girato all'interno di un campo profughi al confine tra il Ciad e il Darfur.

Il Darfur è una regione situata ad ovest del Sudan, di cui fa parte, al confine con il Ciad. Dal 2003 è teatro di un feroce conflitto che vede contrapposti la locale maggioranza nera alla minoranza araba (maggioranza nel resto del Sudan). Quest'ultima appoggiata dal governo centrale, che è accusato di tollerare le feroci scorribande della tribù nomade-guerriera dei Janjaweed, anch'essa di origine araba.

Il video del singolo, è uscito in coincidenza del "Global day for Darfur", manifestazione che ha visto scendere in strada grandi personalità e cittadini di 50 paesi del mondo per chiedere di mettere fine alle stragi e per richiamare l'attenzione dei media e della politica.

I ricavati dalle vendite dell'album sono stati devoluti interamente al progetto "Darfur", fondato dal leader dei Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, e appoggiato da decine e decine di musicisti, attori e cantanti. L'intendo dei Mattafix, con "Living Darfur", non è solo quello di aderire ad un progetto benefico ma, soprattutto, quello di sensibilizzare la pubblica opinione su una delle catastrofi umane più pesanti che siano in corso al mondo e che coinvolge proprio questa regione del Sudan.

Nel maggio 2006 è sorto in Italia un movimento on-line per la promozione dei diritti umani in Darfur, Italian Blogs for Darfur, che il 29 aprile 2007, a Roma, ha promosso e organizzato, il primo Global Day for Darfur in Italia, giunto alla terza edizione nel resto del mondo, per chiedere un impegno dell'Italia per la risoluzione del conflitto in Darfur e più informazione.
