Eddie Thomas was responsible for getting the Independents on record by hooking them up with Art Productions and Wand/Scepter. Chuck Jackson, Bobby Franklin, and Marvin Yancy first made up this group. Chuck kept them going. This is one of their early recordings done in Chicago, 1972. This was the flip of 'I Just Want To Be There'. Nice performance from guys who would go on to greater success as writer/producers.

  • Oh Yeah.........

  • Independents are so under appreciated. Manage to find Solid Gold Soul The Independents online but so much good music that I've heard here on the tube isn't on there and there is no other material to buy from this wonderful group.

  • Eddie was a partner in Art Productions with studio owner Paul Serrano. Therefore, he was the group's co-producer. as well as manager.

  • so this explains what Eddie Thomas did after selling his half of Curtom Records to Marv Stuart, huh? i always wondered who was the force behind the Independents.
