Bill-O thinks instead of taxing the oil companies we should ask them to set up a charitable fund with 2% of their profits instead. Of course when he asked him they weren't too hip on the idea, but Bill still thinks that's the way to solve the problems of those suffering from high gas prices. Yeah like that's gonna' happen Bill....lol!!!

  • LOL WTF??? How the hell is Bill-O's idea any different from Obama's? JESUS HUSSIEN CHRIST!!! They're essentially the same thing but Bill-O has to trash Obama for his version of the same fuckin idea.

  • It's very different since the oil companies already gave Bill the middle finger on his idea of what they'd do voluntarily, and Obama's plan forces them to do it.

  • Hey Bill and Barry, I know you guys love to get your witless ideas and fat pompous heads into every matter you can in name the of helping the little guy, but here's a suggestion:

How about the government stops these pointless and expensive wars and quit running the printing presses to inflate asset prices!!

Again, I know you two are both hardheaded numbskulls, but when you print boatloads of money and wage war in oil producing/exporting countries OIL PRICES WILL RISE!

  • The big Oil corporations are trying their best to stop free energy ideas from spreading to common ppl.

We need to put an end to this corruption ,start generating ur own electricity now.

  • So, rather than actually work to reasonably lower gas prices, Obama's "solution" is to give people a rebate which won't even pay for much of their gas. Maybe he should make it conditional: have the IRS or Treasury Dept. (whoever sends the checks) say "You can only spend this on gas"?

And can someone explain to me how 'properly' inflating your tires will save on gas? Will it make your engine burn gas slower or what? I don't understand. People are gonna buy the same amount of gas either way.

  • If families get another $1,000 tomorrow, I can assure you, most of it will NOT go towards gas. Does Obama have this weird notion that families only pay for gas?? Maybe the rebate should be $10,000.

But all this tax rebate and economic stimulus crap is getting on my last nerve. It just doesn't work. Bush's economic stimulus took forever for Congress to pass, and it took at least 2 or 3 months for the gov't to mail it to everyone. By then, the economy was probably slowing inevitably.

  • I don't think anyone is seriously saying we can 'drill our way out of our problems', but they are saying we should do more domestic drilling to help lower gas prices. How else are we gonna lower them? Reduce energy speculation? Oh, really? Do Barack and Al Gore have any real, hard data that shows that energy speculators have that much of an influence on high gas prices? I think it's largely overstated, and that's a good excuse for liberals not to drill.

  • Wtf is an "energy rebate"?? Obama has such a weird way w/ words. Is that giving us back money we "paid" for "government energy" even though the government doesn't produce energy??

And I highly doubt giving families another extra 1000 bucks is really gonna do much to help them out with high gas prices. Silly Obama. I don't like McCain much, but at least he wants to drill and make us more energy independent. Sure, some say it'll take a while, but let's see if perhaps the experts are wrong

  • Weird how he proclaims that no buissness ought to be discriminated against in the usage of taxation, while the churches of your country run around promoting false hope and bringing in huge amount of taxated money. Call me a bigot, but how can two of the three most dangerous "concerns" of the entire population of the planet not be overly taxated because of the problemes they induce?

  • There should be investment in renewable alternatives for the long energy term needs. The rebates should go toward a cure-not a band aid.
