for all those people that think rita was a pussy hurricane... let me give you a bit of info... Do you realize how hard it was to go back to your hometown of grand chenier, louisiana and realize nothing was there but a chimney laying on the ground? thats right.... they say katrina was bad... katrina wasnt shit. at least some houses stayed. we had nothing to go back to but a broken heart. so dont talk shit about hurricanes unless youve actually lived through one...

this is how people die.. driving back to crystal beach after rita AND ike.. there were well more than a dozen cars were 87 turns away inland at high island.. dead cows, dead humans, rotten refriderators.. everything growing, rotting and dead. watch the vid again, and watch how one wave comes in brings 2 foot, then another wave comes over it and then another wave on top of that one, and then recedes.. then again higher..im glad he had goggles, cause he's swimmin to the everglades.

even if the levies had held in New Orleans, Katriana still did incredible damage all along the mississipi coast. With towns like Gulf port and Boluxi heavily damaged, and other towns like Waveland and pass christian, etc nearly wiped off the map. There was a 28 foot storm surge along parts of the Mississippi coast.

actually at peak intensity it had gusts in excess of 220 mph with susstained winds of 180 mph... at land fall it had maximum susstianed winds of 115 mph add ~ 25 percent to get the highest theoretical gusts.... Although those winds were contained to a very small area......... I have seen estimates that the storm surge was 15- 16 feet and did pretty incredible damage though

What a jackass get the facts. Rita did more damage to cameron than you will ever know. We just did not sit around on our ass and do nothing. Like all the Katrina peps did. We started rebuilding as soon as the rain and wind stopped.

Katrina was a pussy huh?? 1836 people died!!! Katrina was a cat. 5 hurricane, with a central pressure of 902mb, and wind gusts to 175mph. Katrina was stronger than Rita was when it made landfall in Louisiana, (winds 140, compared to Rita's 125 in Texas).

Im from sulphur. Katrina was a pussy. If those levies wouldnot have broken nothing would have happend. Rita had wind gusts of 180mph, a barametric pressure of 896mb and was the 4th most intence hurrican in history.
