The original song was produced for the culture of the time. Aussie hip hop is the culture for this time. Nothing sacrilage was intended. Anyway, the original artist had no problem with this song being redone. Redgum owns the rights to this song, not you. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

Music opinions are subjective, I guess. But at the same time we're getting into a different time, a culture shift where Australian hip-hop is becoming extremely popular. It happens all the time with rock, forms of classical music, blues, RnB etc... It's just how the music industry/pop culture works and always will.

I have to say, I am only 17, but a classic redone like this really upsets me. The emotion in it seems to have dissapeared, its sounds like they are just singing it because it is a song. I normally do not like a poemto be turned into a song but redgum did it well. A rap version of a poem, in my opinion, is just wrong.
