The American Dream (from Night Visions) by James Beckel Jr. (1948- )
American-born composer James Beckel Jr. is a trombonist on the faculty of the University of Indianapolis. He wrote the Suite entitled Night Visions in 1992 to pay tribute to the CEO of Price Waterhouse. The American Dream is the last movement of the suite and in the composers words represents the excitement and hope that is still embodied in the concept of the American dream. There is a hymn in the middle of the piece, for the beauty of the earth, with the following text:
For the beauty of the earth, for the play of the skies, for the joy of human love, this is a hymn of grateful praise.
