Basic/Written Instructions:
Requirements:
- Router Access
- Static IP
- Knowledge of router model # (only if your going to use portforward.com like I did)

Steps:
1. Go to http://www.Portforward.com
2. Select your router's model number.
3. (skip ad, if there is) Select the program you would like to port forward (whatever program you use to download torrents)
4. Follow the instructions on the web page, if you still don't get it, review my instructions below.

What Portforward.com will tell you to do:
1. Open the program your using to download torrents, and get into the connection settings menu.
2. Set the port to something you'll remember (in my case 1337, MAKE SURE "enable upnp is unchecked")
3. Access your router through your web browser (in my case 192.168.1.1)
4. Find Port forwarding on your router (in my case under firewall settings)
5. add a new rule or service.
6. Make sure this rule or service is open the UDP and TCP, all ports are at 1337 (or whatever port you entered in your bittorrent connection settings) and apply it to your STATIC IP. (my router allows me to just select a computer name (which is cool :) )

And that's that. :)

Reason why you shouldn't share with people your ports:
Alright not only does opening a port allow a program to get out of your network and through the internet with no firewall, it allows things to COME IN through that port too. It's really, really not likely. But with that open port they can "Dos" or "DDoS" you. I'm only saying this, because it's happened to me in the past.

:) Yeahh, sadly, times have changed.

  • done everything and yet nothing changed.... :(

  • @iiFork

You may have a DMZ host set on your computer, which pretty much allows ALL ports to your computer. So you basically don't even have to port forward, either that, or you did something wrong. :P

  • when i write ipconfig in the cmd they dont show me my gateway y?

  • @sayouf33

    try

    "ipconfig /all"

and if that doesn't work, run cmd as administrator and try it again.
