  • Thank you for posting this rare version by August Stradal! My mother used to play it when I was a small child, and I used to roll under the piano to enjoy the thundering of the octave scales. Brailowsky makes quite a few cuts and changes to the part, which is admittedly at times hard to play, omits the cadenza "ad libitum" before the fugue and plays the fugue very slowly without rendering (in my opinion) Stradal's indication "breit und gewaltig" (broad and mighty). Still, thank you again!

  • Fantastic indeed! I've only heard of Brailowsky as of a pianist who foretold a brilliant future to the teenage Emil Gilels, and I never thought there are recordings of him. amazing music and playing

  • It does seem a bit slow, but great performing

    Thanks Philippe
