Bert reminds me of this guy I knew in college. Sweet, kind, but comes on too fast and makes things totally awkward.

You feel bad for the guy and try to be friendly with him, but it can also backfire because then he'll cling to you. This guy would text me all the time. And when I don't respond in 30 seconds he text asking if I'm still there. Sigh...

The only way I got away from him was because thank god the term ended. Though I often wonder how he's doing, I don't dare call him.

Thanks for posting this one. I love how Dan was always so protective. He protects DJ and it's funny as Bert comes closer to DJ, Dan puts his arm around him. His being protective isn't always obvious, sometimes subtle like in Part 1 where he takes DJ away from Bert and massages his cheeks. Protecting him.

no shit i had this guy who i knew that WAS JUST LIKE BERT. He like would be over every single day, and be dirtying up my kitchen because he wanted to make me a huge breakfast. he wanted to install a ceiling fan in my kitchen then he rewire my whole house's electricity (turn on a switch downstairs and upstairs bathroom would come on). he was annoying as hell he would never leave us alone it was insane

@butterfinger16932 I agree! Better still is the part starting at about 3:22 where Becky slowly tip-toes to the stair area because she (presumably) doesn't want Bert to know that she's there! I never noticed this the first couple of times I watched this episode, but I caught it just now, and it's good acting on Lecy's part, I think! :-)

@CrazyPockyJunkie Yeah, he's trying too hard...looking at it from the Conners' point of view, they were probably thinking: "why are you doing this (buying gifts, etc.)? You hardly know us!" So it probably felt "unearned" and dishonest for Dan, Roseanne, Jackie and the kids to accept what Bert was doing. You can't buy friends by getting them gifts. If they don't know you, you have to earn friendship the old-fashioned way: by getting to know them and vice-versa. It doesn't happen overnight.
