A lengthy and detailed tutorial on displacements using the Hammer editor for the Source engine.

I know I have a tutorial already on this, but it was made a long time ago and this one is more detailed and of a better quality.

  • @3kliksphilip Hey, for some reason my sewing does not work. They all have the same power and are all alligned. Yet they do not work.

  • @SnoobYHD Did you make all 6 sides of the block a displacement when you made them? That would stop them from sewing.

  • @TheIvanatorion Oh i see, thanks for the info

  • The first thing I did was make a giant penis

  • @Skeiln you map is probably with leak, it does not allow VVIS to compile, so i think if your map is too bi it can lower FPS

  • @FaNTaSTiiKHD

    yeah!

im makeing one myself although its more of a offline game

  • For some reason the displacements I have are... not working. Even though I haven't done anything odd to them, there is a broken piece of it which sort of hangs over the rest of the displacement, whenever I touch it while playtesting the map, it gets stuck and you cannot move without noclipping out. Any clue as to what I'm doing wrong?

  • @FaNTaSTiiKHD You could use this to make the maps for an online game, but to get the game to work you would need some coders, texture makers(to prevent copyright issues), and who knows how many people to make the models and charecters. But for maps, yea this could work.

  • @FaNTaSTiiKHD With SDK? Sure you can, but you can't do it alone you'd need an entire mod team to do it and even then it can take up to a year to make.

  • I have some displacements which aren't sewing correctly... I have them lined up and they are the same power, any ideas?

  • @3kliksphilip Can you make an online game with it? I'm really looking forward on making one!
