A brilliant drummer, watched him since 1987, a real genius.
-
This guy, to me, is the king of odd time drumming....
-
If you keep a 7/4 melody in your head, then just stick with it.
-
never go 7/8 keep it 7/4 beast.
-
These songs sound like they're from a video game or something, they're catchy :D
-
@Audi0Phil They're called Octobans and he uses them quite extensively.
-
SImon Phillips plays odd meter as fluently as he does even meter. He's a monster. And such a nice guy. No ego here, I can assure you.
-
strange, for me its easier to count 8 and 6...
-
8/8
-
4/4+3/4
he puts the rhythm in the four and uses the octobons on the fills within the 7/4

@nimajnebenneb:
I think it's definitely 7/4.

@RandomlyDrumming no doubt: 7/4 with 16th subdivision. If you try to clap to it in 7/8 it's not easy, because this is clearly felt: 4/4 plus 3/4 (not the other way around).
