That note that Marion sings near the end is the D two octaves and one note above middle C on the piano -- seventeen full steps above middle C.

yeah. wonderful composition by Rev. Brewster and wonderful lead by Mrs. Williams and heart-stirring vocals by the Ward Singers. I'm taken as always by the superb vocals of the Old Ward Singers. Thank you.

PS49 -- Do you have any recordings of the first Ward Singers, comprised of just mother Gertrude and teenage daughters Willarene and Clara? If so, please post them.

You're right, it is. But if anyone could do it, it's you, PS29! It may not be possible to find anything at this point.
This initial version of the Ward Family Singers was started by Mrs. Gertrude Ward in 1931, when Clara was seven years old and Willarene was nine. It was just the three of them. That was the composition of the group thoughout the 1930s and into the early '40s.
