  • WOW! Nitrate film is very delicate indeed! Now I know why the original negatives to the pre-1952 MGM cartoons were destroyed.

  • I hope you checked if there was still a copy left of that particular newsreel before you burnt the remains of it as some of it was still salvageable

  • My father told, when they were kids (in the 50's), they put films to the bottle, used magnifying glass to set the fire and bottles exploded. Some kid even lost his eye.
