Water rockets, also known as bottle rockets are aero models which use water as their thrust source. The water is ejected out by pressurized compressed air.
The rocket can be made out of soft drink bottles made out of plastic. The principles acting behind water rockets are same as a big aerospace rocket used in space launches. The main components of a water rocket are nose, pressure vessel and fins. The bottle acts as the pressure vessel. The bottle can be pressurized using bicycle pumps, cylinders or air compressors. The pressure used is in the range of 60 to 100 psi. The range of rocket pressurized at 70 psi can be 150 to 180 m.
