Just think of it as a re-invention of the original. Cults are a very 60's sounding band - it's hard to create 'fresh' music reminiscent of a certain decade without at least partially emulating what was there before. The people crying over it and calling it a rip-off are the same people who would defend copyright to the death, forgetting that there were no innovative ideas in human history that were entirely original.
