  • personally I don't spend too much time making the mold surface 100% if you plan on painting the finished parts. you will have to prep the surface of the parts by sanding them out anyway. so small imperfections of the mold doesn't matter.

  • hey, it was the early 80's (judging from her hair and clothes) the professionals then were like our amateurs now. They know how to make it but do it the wrong/hard way yet still ending up with a good product

  • @gamercosti Well said my good sir.. i like the part "the professionals then were like our amateurs now" very interesting makes me think u know.. just like the people that design airplane and tanks back then in ww2 its like today kids in school can draw a tank or airplane 100 times nicer and better

  • Making a silicone / latex layer is SO much easier than making a direct fibreglass layer. Makes release 1000000 times easier too lol.

  • I've always found that for parts like cowls, it's much easier just to make a one piece mold. Only about 1/4 as much work and it produces parts with no parting lines, etc. to deal with.

  • mold release wedges? How about using pieces of PVC I built race weight parts for years and PVC is all we used.
