Making a silicone / latex layer is SO much easier than making a direct fibreglass layer. Makes release 1000000 times easier too lol.

I've always found that for parts like cowls, it's much easier just to make a one piece mold. Only about 1/4 as much work and it produces parts with no parting lines, etc. to deal with.

mold release wedges? How about using pieces of PVC I built race weight parts for years and PVC is all we used.

personally I don't spend too much time making the mold surface 100% if you plan on painting the finished parts. you will have to prep the surface of the parts by sanding them out anyway. so small imperfections of the mold doesn't matter.

hey, it was the early 80's (judging from her hair and clothes) the professionals then were like our amateurs now. They know how to make it but do it the wrong/hard way yet still ending up with a good product
