I was in Lincoln City Oregon filming som wild riptide activity of the ocean on Jan 1, 2010. This kiteboarding dude comes out and sets up. I've never seen this before in real life time, let alone during storm & Tsunami riptide conditions. In this first clip, you can see how one anchors the sail while preparing to go out into the ocean. I couldn't figure out how one would have prepared the sail without blowing away prior to getting on the board. Now I know. Look for part II which shows this crazy adventure seeker take off in these conditions. I think you'll be impressed as I was. He wasn't so crazy after all. Definitly a mind, body, soul experience for a Mirror Athlete (www.mirrorathlete.com) and Viking Carnivore (www.vikingcarnivores.com). Look for part 2 of this footage.
@nwkitesurfer Thanks for the terminology update. Looks fun, but I think I'll pass.

Great footage. It's actually called kiteboarding or kitesurfing. It's basically a kite with an inflatable leading edge which allows the kiteboarder to relaunch the kite if he drops it in the water.
