Not necessarily a paid placement. They might be following the Seinfeld tradition of working product names into the storyline to humorous effect (e.g. Junior Mint, Snapple, Panda Express.) IMO the flow of the ep wouldn't have been as good if it were "Red Mango."
c) People aren't being brainwashed you fucking idiot, it's their choice whether to go there or not. It's a marketing strategy. Wouldn't you do the same if you had a business you wanted other people to try?
@BrentonSteinhilber So? So, what? You LIKE being constantly brainwashed by advertisers? Both the poster and myself simply pointed out the blatant product placement, and you don't see any issue here? The issue is that artists become controlled by advertisers so much so that they are forced by the producers to alter their visions for the sake of placing giant ads into their scripts. There are thousands of articles on this practice and the damage it inflicts upon the creative process.

Because it's on HBO, they actually do not receive a penny from advertising, since they do not accept advertising.

It could be mock product placement. Like Arrested Development did with Burger King.
