When we needed to expand our Patagonia distribution center in Reno, Nevada we looked to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, certification standards as our guide to building a green building that balances environmental responsibility, resource efficiency and the comfort and well-being of our workforce. We set high environmental standards for the one-hundred-and-seventy-one-thousand square-foot expansion of our warehouse facility and outlet store. This video highlights some examples of the efforts we made to mitigate the building's effect on the environment and to meet the LEED gold certification standard.

Video covers the following subjects: 1. Storm-Water Runoff Management 2. Landscape and Exterior Design 3. Water Conservation and Energy Efficiency 4. Recycled and Environmentally Friendly Construction Materials 5. Green Housekeeping, Alternative Transportation and Recycling

  • like the clip. check out my home energy stuff using Rooftop Wind Turbines and solar panels on my roof. I just won a Green Design Contest with my product on EarthDay. Friends and Subscribers Welcome.

    Thanks, Sam

  • He was the ultimate enviromentalist, he wouldn't rob aereas of nature without putting soil and plants on the roof . I was a friend of him I know exactly his concerns. still he was more an artist than an Architect.

  • hundertwasser is a sunday architect so he could allow himself doing such nonsense. these guys here work hand in hand with progress and environtalism. no need 2 work against humankinds ambitions, its so 90s

  • Patagonia ROCKS!!!

  • Friedensreich Hundertwasser the late famous artist would hate the strait lines, he would recommend to put soil on the roof and plant trees, because a huge aerea of nature has been destroit for another soulless adventure for making money

  • This facility received LEED Gold certification (track to 1:04).

  • LEED Platinum is very tough to get. Anyone at Patagonia care to shed light on what rating this project received?

  • I wonder if this is a platinum LEED certified building

  • A good example of doing the right thing, being good for business. They are true leaders in the industry.

  • WE should all learn from them. Lets make a difference when we have the power to do so.
