Film Camera Review: Olympus Ecru (first video review)

This is a very limited 1991 Olympus Ecru. Olympus produced 10,000 for Japan and another 10,000 for overseas. Industrial designer Naoki Sakai designed this camera along with the O-Product camera for Olympus. The Ecru has an f3.5 lens and is basically a Stylus Infinity redesigned into this nice white shell. I wish it was modeled after the later Olympus Stylus cameras which all featured a f2.8 lens. Oh well it's completely automatic anyways, I don't think I would notice a slightly better lens anyways.

This is a fast and quiet point and shoot camera. Great for parties (if you bring extra AAA batteries). This camera works well with rechargeables. I suggest Tenegery AAA, they have 1000mah which will last you for a much longer time than generic rechargeables. I like to use a diffuser over the flash.

This is the only fully automatic camera I'll ever own. I usually collect old soviet, polaroids, and half frame cameras. This one sticks out of my collection and is always a conversation starter.

@tanukigio It's pretty gnarly. I love taking it to parties or bars. I have to use a piece of plastic cup to diffuse the intense flash.

@kylehazachode I just noticed your username, lmao! Thats definitely the kind of camera to take to a party. I actually have an olympus infinity stylus and the flash does seem hella strong for such a little thing. I haven't developed any pictures from it yet though but I'm gunna keep the plastic cup trick in mind. Thats clever.
