: In its 2007 world-wide, television and radio broadcast of "The Soldiers' Christmas Song," AFN (the American Forces Network) told the story behind Pfc Eddie Fisher's recording of "Christmas Eve in My Home Town" during the Korean War and how, during Vietnam, Kate Smith's introduction of the song on the Carson Tonight Show is credited with paving the way for Western Christmas music to be broadcast to our troops serving in Muslim countries. This is so touching...thanks for posting this.
I've posted a new song in tribute to the troops on my page called Read the Stars. Please listen

A rare treat is Eddie's recording of Christmas Eve In My Hometown, especially the armed forces recording that you can get by contacting Stan Zabka at Big Island Records, Grass Valley, California. Eddie sings this song sweetly almost in a big band style. Eddie later recorded this for RCA Victor, but Stan's recording is the one they should have gone with. Contact him. This is a must for Fisher fans.
