  • I can still remember the brush powers "ah.... Amaterasu, mother and origin of us all" then they talk about how they end up there and all that, good times, good times

  • I read the book, and it say that "Though deliberatley written to br a genderless character..." umm... it always says "Mother to us all" thats not genderless. its just strikes me as wierd

  • @Sh4d0wKat Umm I know Amaterasu was Shiranui. I just think that Shiranui was male, and then reincarnated female.

  • @DioDinero Ha! Knew it!

  • @cheetahstarofoakclan Waka and the Celestials' ghosts make it clear that Shiranui was Amaterasu all along. Shiranui was just the name the villagers gave to her when she was prowling around opposing Orochi from the shadows. The whole point of gathering prayers in the game was that Ammy was trying to regain the power she'd lost after her defeat.

  • @DioDinero Was Shiranui male - Okamiden aside? In-game almost everyone assumes Ammy is male too. The judgement of a bunch of superstitious villagers who, according to the intro, only caught glimpses of Shiranui on the nights Orochi attacked, can't be trusted. The only one who was up-close and personal with Shiranui was Nagi, who was just as much of an idiot as Susanoo, who referred to Ammy as his "brother". In all likelihood, people just assumed Shiranui was male.

  • @silverwolf54321 They probably figured westerners wouldn't know about the Goddess Amaterasu in the Shinto religion. So they tried to make this "god" seem genderless.

  • 0:00 to 0:05 reminds me of that Japanese Dewprism commercial.

  • Oh, by book I meant the instructional thing that came with the game, the little booklet that comes with every game.

  • @silverwolf54321...book?? TELL ME MORE!! O_O

  • Shiranui, in it's first incarnation, was a male. Amaterasu, as we are playing her, is a female. It's not that hard, guys.

  • @silverwolf54321 Her gender is more ambiguous in the English version but in the Japanese version of the first game, it is stated that she is female. In both versions of Okamiden, they make it obvious she is female.
