Cleaning up an oil spill in the relatively calm waters of the Gulf of Mexico has been an extreme challenge. In the Arctic Ocean, where temperatures fall well below zero, ocean swells can reach 20 feet and huge ice flows prevent travel to most areas, it's inconceivable to expect cleaning up to go smoothly.
this is a problem

Why is nobody in jail yet over the destruction of the Gulf? Are there no cops on the beat?

We couldn't agree more! An oil spill in the icy waters of the Arctic would be almost impossible to clean up, and in most parts of the harsh and remote Arctic coast, there is almost no infrastructure in place to support response vessels and crews. The people and wildlife that call the Arctic home are already reeling from the changing climate and we simply can't allow any more threats to be added to this fragile ecosystem. Tell Obama to stop offshore drilling in the Arctic this summer!
