Cessna 180 Roberts STOL Middle Fork Salmon River Lower Loon.

Video of a Skywagon 180 Roberts STOL landing at Lower Loon Cr. on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River on July 8, 2009. We flew in to hike, fish, and visit with the locals. There is a great place there to have breakfast at the Wilderness Ranch. I think the strip is around 700 feet. My video is a bit rough so I need to apologize to the pilot.

Short and soft field landings aren't pretty. You're not there to impress anyone, just to get it down safely with the wing stalled when the mains touch. Greasing it on usually means the wing is still flying and you're going to burn too much runway getting it stopped. No room for that up in the hills.
