wow everytime someone posts a video there are so many subject matter experts criticising them its sick ! wheres all your videos of you guys preforming the perfect flawless techs ! what ever happened to the part in martial arts about setting your ego aside and being humble simply striving to better ones self
-
@louisperkins No you're senselessly name-calling and the details I'm criticising are true to Karate - a loose shuto hand will not cause any damage, but it will to you. You cannot punch to the fullest and fastest if you're elbows are sticking out - like a teapot. I was wrong about the shoulders but your tetsui fist is not straight. Mate it's Karate, the devil's in the details

@PnutButter1986 you're a dildo, faggot ass hater

A guy puts up a video everyone feels the need to criticise him out of some misplaced resentment. To accomplish anything means not far from this people will be there to debase a person's accomplishments. This is a nature of jealousy.

Makiwara is not meant for power punches...

@smkalberta hey dude i need a makiwara to train on but can you tell me how can i get one? (i cant practise in my gym now cuz i cant pay the tax...thx

Hitting the makawari too hard results in injury, as master Nakahodo has said, a little bit everyday.
Been hitting makawari almost daily for 6 years and have gradually increased in force and power, but to start off from scratch hitting hard will only injure your joints and probably result in cuts and scars.

@dejathorus Interesting that you've been hitting stuff since '72 -why?
However, the point of a makiwara is that it does flex, surely?
you can punch me like that in the nose 100 times and i wouldn't feel it come on man

Well, as much as I respect you as a fellow karateka, I feel I must agree with newlevel on your form. Yorur maki is too stiff. I'm not saying you need to make it 1/2 inch to the point where it breaks on you, but it needs to be able to flex. Also, your form should be worked on. Your punches loose a lot of power when you bring your elbow away from your body, and you use too much shoulder in your strikes. That is both unhealthy and bad form.

I need a Makiwara that has no flex as I tend to break those that flex sorry. But I have been hitting the Makiwara since 1972.
