@Greenballed Actually the bow seems to of only been invented once. Somewhere in Eurasia about 10,000 years ago. The idea spread to Americas more recently through the Eskimos. But I think there are lots of pyramids just because if you want a big monument pile of stones to not fall over it helps if it has sloping sides.

The Mayans and many other ancient peoples were proficient at mathematics. We know that triangles are one of the strongest shapes. So even the ancient civilizations could have figured out that pyramids were the most stable and strong structures.
