[Tutorial] This video is a tutorial upon how to dodge bosses with an archer or the promoted archer-classes: arbalist(EU)/ranger(IAH) and pathfinder(EU)/hunter(IAH). All their skills with dodge-purposes will be brought into the fierce battle between the archer and the boss and where possible recommended or made fun of.
The purpose of the video is making you choose the right skills to dodge properly and furthermore use them in the right way. Most of it is explained in the video, and a part of it is below here (bonus for loyal readers? xD):

Dashing (2x arrow key up/down/left/right): (4:01)
Dashing is a way to move a short distance quickly. If used correctly this short distance can be enough to dodge the attack of a boss. A boss' regular attack has a small radius vertical, whereas it's rather big horizontal. Especially as the boss turns if you dash over him to the other side. With other words, if you want to use dashes to dodge a boss, always dash vertically (up-down), as dodging horizontally will only cause the boss to turn and still hit you. Or to just hit you. Besides, if he turns and your allies are in his back, he'll hit you ánd your allies. That ain't too social, is it?
Yet, it also has to do with timing. Dodging horizontally works if you start early enough... Same goes for vertically. However, while dodging vertically, you may start your dodge later, rendering it more interesting as a way to dodge. For a horizontal dodge you MUST predict, whereas a vertical dodge is an actual dodge - dodge before he attacks.

Jumping (C): (0:37; 2:08; 7:04 - everywhere actually...)
Jumping is a different way to dodge an attack. Basically, when the boss is about to attack, you jump. Just like your attacks/skills, the damage has a maximum altitude. Above that altitude/height they can't deal damage / hit. You use this fact to dodge an attack. During your jump you can also output some damage, using archer's "shootdown" or arbalist(EU)/ranger(IAH)'s "aerial flurry". Dodge + Damage + Combo Retaining. Me like! How about you?
But... Is it really that plain easy? Not really. What I wrote fits, but there still is an error on the dodging tactic. Some attacks of some bosses have a greater height as you want them to be, rendering jumping not always the best way to do a dodge. (7:04). By jumping, some of these high altitudes can still be dodged by jumping, yet you'll sometimes face a boss where you simply can't. This differs per boss, so just try it out. But what the hey, then we still have our dashing, right?

Shootdown (0:37):
Shootdown is the archer's way to say "Why do you even attack that way? I'll just shoot 3 arrows instead of one!". During a jumpdodge you could (or better: should) use shootdown to output some damage and thus retain your combo. Furthermore shootdown is a good skill to finish one last monster, or to get someone jumping in PvP (shootdown is one of the skills with a great hitting altitude/height) for only 15SP! Why wouldn't you o.o?
In the next patch, shootdown was said to be able to go to level 3, for a total of 3 waves of 3 arrows. In total, this will be 9 arrows fired. Even if it, according to you, is just a skill you use "while you are dodging anyway", it'll become a great damage output skill, rendering 3 waves of 3 arrows stronger as multishot, which makes you vulnerable during the casting time. Whereas you're near invulnerable during some waves of shootdown. I'd say: no-minder! Get it! Use it! Love it!

  • Tssk. Gaat ie weer spelen hoor.

  • is Dragonica harder then flyff? and u need much more skills for it? o.O

  • @FrozenRTard You partly rely on gear, like in every game, but not as much as in flyff. By placing your skills correctly, moving correctly, dashing correctly etc. you can do things which some noob with godly gear cannot do.

  • @FrozenCure ok, but do u play dragonica much?

  • @FrozenRTard During busy University weeks, no, not at all.

However, when I understand what is currently being told, during non-busy weekends or holidays, I love playing it.

Currently I'm "card farming" at Dragonica, meaning I make 2 character sticks to lv37 and try to farm "H.E. Grenade" cards to get my H.E. Grenade skill of my arbalist to lv8. It's cooldown will be greatly reduced next patch at lv8+ so... I really want it xD

  • yay japanese music :D

  • can you give me the link from where you downloaded dragonica?

  • @FrozenCure Completely agree with you. As soon as i started getting into the 70 range i started to feel very weak cause all of the other Billposters were way more stronger and my gear was obsolete at that lvl. It was also frustrating how i would Giant grind for hours and hours just to have a shot to buy ONE awesome weap, while someone could spend like 50$ get all supped out gear with no effort at all and call them selves pro :P I went back to Guild Wars though. SO much better and balanced.

  • @FrozenRTard I won't ever return. I'm not even able to return.

Sure, I still have my gear worth about 10b-15b, but that's nothing compared to what I used to have. And as you might not know, but if you've used gear worth 50b, using gear worth much less simply isn't an option. That makes you feel weak and thus ragequit real soon.

Besides, a game like Dragonica requires much more skill as a game like Flyff rendering it be more fun.

    Ty.
