@Hey whats wrong.
I wasnt trying to blame you for not knowing the proper names and shit, nope, i wasnt, not for a split second..
I just find it incredibly hillarious that every single damn Region of the World has a funny name for the Stuff.
Suds, Bohrmilch, you call it White Water and theres a couple other odd names.
Some old Books recommend foodstuffs like lard, real Milk, and vegetable oil.
Works ! Rapeseed makes good cutting fluid, i always keep a bottle in the shop^^

Haha its funny , every countrys got to have its special name for the stuff.
In Germany we say boring milk ( no pun intended, boring as in boring bar)

Pillocks,its 20% oil and 80% water,worked in an engineering factory my ass...if you did you would have got to know what the white stuff is.
Oil turns white when mixed with water.

@jlg4880 There's an oil that our shop uses from a company called Hangsterfers. It's based off animal fats i believe... I don't remember exactly what the stuff was called (mix of numbers and letters) but there was a 300 in it.
I use a water soluble coolant which can be purchased at a machine shop supply co. The ratio is 20 water to 1 coolant and its light blue almost white in color, TONY G. cougarman07470

I switched over to a green cutting fluid/coolant named Anchorlube, I think. Got it from Enco. Leaves a much nicer finish than 3-in-1 or motor oil.

@jlg4880 yeah ur got the right spellin, i used to work in an engineering factory makin hydraulic & pnumatic breaks rams/actuators. white water was used as a coolant there to basicly keep the metal and masheneing tools from getting too hot. its water that is mixed with sumthin but im not 100% sure what its mixed with but as u can tell from the name its white

That makes sense! It sounds like something I remember being used at the last company I worked at--the machinist would have a container with a light-colored, might have been white, cutting fluid that he'd dilute with water at a 1:1 ratio.
I was using light machine oil for a cutting fluid, 3-in-1 I believe. The steel blank was 12L14, almost as easy to machine as brass for the little mini-lathe with an optimistic rating of 3/4 hp motor (it's probably closer to 1/2 horse).
