Some may not like Hitoshi Sakimoto's compositions, or just hate him for the fact that he replaced Uematsu on the Final Fantasy music front, but I for one am a big fan of his. He's given Final Fantasy games some of the most epic sounding boss tunes the series has ever seen. This theme is no exception.

Now, if you're familiar with the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 (A2) Soundtrack, you'll notice some tracks from FFXII in there, specifically, the boss battle theme, aptly named "That Which Stands in the Way" in FFTA2. I've noticed some difference between the tracks, specifically with drums, but when placed just right, (along with other brass instruments) it can make one particular part sound really epic.

What you might or might not be hearing (depending if you know the two songs well enough) is NOT the DS version of the song, obviously, since you can tell simply by the quality. However, hearing the FFXII boss theme on a DS is simply bad ass in itself. By the way, there are remastered soundtracks for both of the hand held Advance games, I'd recommend getting them. Now.

Anyway, I figured I'd throw the two versions together to get this, and for the most part, it's identical, and sounds twice as epic. Seeing how I don't make Poops any more, this is some of what you'll get from me now.

BY THE WAY YOUTUBE I DO NOT CLAIM TO HAVE COMPOSED THESE MYSELF THEY ARE ACTUALLY THE PROPERTY OF HITOSHI SAKIMOTO OR SQUARE ENIX OR WHATEVER AND IF YOU THINK I STOLE THESE JUST SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP.

  • To me there seems to be a lot of story in FFTA2, but that's only because I haven't played the other tactic games (and not much of FFXII).

  • I haven't played FFTA2 yet, but the PSX Tactics is centered on story/gameplay for the most part. It definitely has one of the most expansive tales out of the Ivalice game, not counting Vagrant Story since I haven't played that either. FFXII has a lot of story behind it, just not much presented to you throughout the game.

  • theres nothing wrong with ivalice, there needs to be more ivalice alliance games

  • wait,so its ok for Nintendo to use Mushroom Kingdom for over 20 years without change but its NOT ok for Square-Enix to use the same world once?

Is there something wrong with you?

  • @ShadyHitchhiker @RetroJape yeah I finished FFTA2. And yeah, you need to play the side stories a lot in that game, but even then there isn't too much going for Luso

  • @MAZZ0Murder Hello three year old comment. You may very well have played this game in the meantime, but I just wanted to let you know FFTA2's story is weak as all hell. The main storyline anyway. It's basically "We need to have adventures until I go home. Also there is an antagonist now for some reason".

The sidequests are quite charming, and have a lot of fun plot threads running throughout, and personally I found them far more engaging than the slapdash main plot.

  • @Letamaru

    WHEN?

  • @Dillrod90

Why Hagrid? What has Harry Potter to do with Ivalice? o.O

  • First i SO MUCH hated Ivalice and such.

Hitoshu was like my personal enemy for replacing Uematsu.

But now i realized that FFT,FFTA2 and FFXII is great games!

And Hitoshi didn't kill Uematsu,he just replaced them, both of them are great composers.

    So YAY! for Ivalice.

  • Around the one minute mark till 1:30 makes me feel like it's the climax. Epic battle song.

  • Hagrid

  • In general I feel some resentment towards Hitoshi Sakimoto for replacing Uematsu which colors my opinion of his work, but this particular piece I really do like a lot.

  • This song makes me wanna slay a dragon.

  • i ony here one of d boss themes 4 FFTA2 plus i think u should've used the song determination instead of a beating heart
