The Republic of Panama in Central America receives more than 2 million
tourists every year. Manyothose people stay in hotels near Via Veneto,
in the heart of the tourist district in downtown Panama City. Recent
construction of new hotels in the area, combined with an already old,
crumbling, and over taxed underground infrastructure has resulted in
the collapse of the primary sewer line in the area. As a result, human
waste, feces, and used toilet paper can be seen floating down the
street, right in front of the hotels were the tourists are staying.
After repeated complaints, the National Institute of Aqueducts and
Sewers sends out a work crew, and the unblock the pipe (temporarily),
but then it clogs back up again within weeks. This has been going on
literally for years. The government has to dig up the street, replace
the collapsed pipe, and fix the problem once and for all. Until they
do, the sh*t will continue to stink on a regular basis.

  • I totally agree that they need to fix the problem. I was there for about 40 days on vacation and I will be telling my friends not to go there on vacation because of this reason and a few others.

  • why in the city move to the country side everyone knows that's the best part of Panama, the city is no better than new york city.. but if you live there more power to you... good luck
