Racoons have been a severe problem within city limits. The night marauders search relentlessly for food anywhere they can, including supposedly racoon-proof green bins for our kitchen waste, and a main concern for me, tearing up my lawn looking for grubs. Having just spent $5000 on landscaping, including new sod in both the front and back yards, I do whatever I can to discourage them from our property - including trapping and relocating them to farmland about 15 Km north of the city. Normally, I catch one each night in the trap; I caught 4 two weeks ago, but knew there were 2 elusives at large and for the past few days, was unsuccessful in catching them. This morning, I was pleasantly surprised to catch not one, but TWO in the same cage! In this video, I moved the cage back to illustrate the mess they left on my deck - even a Karcher high pressure washer could not completely eliminate the stains.

  • BTW, You made a mistake when you mentioned you drove out the coons 15 km's to the farmland didin't you?

anything over 1 km is illegal.

  • @79Testo

True, but it is better than killing them. If I don't move them more than 1 km, they just come back. At least I am giving them a chance to live somewhere else.

  • For you to be speaking in "KM's" you have to be canadian...where you from?

  • I met one of these guys the other night. . . When I saw him he was posted up about head high and he heard me coming. I heard him in the bushes and barely saw his outline in the light. I was amazed and got close enough to see his face about a foot above and 4 away from my head. I wasnt scared of him and was in awe. Then I started thinking wait a minuet maybe he could have jumped on me. I guess theyre not so mean. . . But I dont know!

  • @pilaar39 I would also relocate them at least 25 miles away, so they don't come back and they still have a chance (however slim) at survival, but relocation of any trapped wild animal over 100 yards is illegal in my state, so that leaves killing humanely as the only option if I don't want these things to return. I don't mind shooting raccoons in the head, but I wish it were legal to relocate them a long way away instead.

  • so cute

  • Yeah put em right next to a road that's a good idea

  • lol when u let them go, its a wonder that they didnt attack you.......

  • @pilaar39

We have different firearms laws in Canada. Absolutely illegal to discharge a firearm within city limits. I live in Toronto, ON, Canada
