One of my fondest memories of '90s Packard Bell computers would definitely be Packard Bell Navigator, a GUI in the form of a house that runs on top of Windows 95. It may get ridiculed quite a bit, but it's a true icon of retro computing. Also included is an old America Online 2.5 intro video

  • cool video, I'm running windows 95 and microsoft virtual pc, I insert the cd into the drive but it can't load, you know what could the problem be?

  • @Brandtner1234 You'll probably need a Packard Bell boot floppy to get it to boot, if it's the Master CD you're talking about. I remember seeing a site sometime back that had Packard Bell boot floppies for download. If I can find it again, I'll let you know.

  • Greetings I like your computers maybe one day if I need any computer for my ship I'll know where to go. I'll have Scotty to beam you and your computers up :-D Have A Great Day!!

  • Hey nice video Cutie (WINK)

  • Whoa, hardcore nostalgia. I remember my mom getting a Packard Bell for us the Christmas of '95. I was only, like, 11 or 12 or something like that. I remember this Navigator like it was yesterday.

There was a game that came with the system. Journeyman or something like that. I remember playing it and it scaring me so bad, lol. Thanks for uploading this and I am enjoying all of your videos about these older computers.

  • I had a Packard Bell computer back in the day. It ran Windows ME and something similar to the Packard Bell Navigator - it was more 3D and had a much bigger house and I think the icon was the Windows Butterfly. You wouldn't know the name of it would you?

  • It's great that you're sharing these videos. Our first family PC was a Packard Bell Legend 20CD, but it is long gone. It's great to know that this kind of stuff is being documented, so we can show our kids what things were like back in the day.

  • Wow, i remember the ski game with the yeti monster who terrorised me when i was a child. It was our first family computer family and it was fascinating.

    thanks for fhis video.

  • Oh this takes me back. Our first PC was a Packard Bell with this very version of Navigator. Windows 95, pentium 75mhz. "Welcome from Packard Bell...We offer you two computing environments to choose from...Packard Bells Navigator or Microsoft Windows. You may also begin by taking a quick lesson on using the mouse". Ran much better later in life with some more RAM and Windows 98 SE + 56k modem (before the days of cheap broadband).

  • You would think with how dumbed down their trying to make computers now-a-days the industry would bring something like this (or Microsoft BOB, but this was better looking/running then the BOB program) back. It could be adopted to Smartphones, Tablets & even Gaming Consoles/Home Entertainment/Media systems/Smart TVs as well.

  • What I haven't seen is the secret attic space that was an add on to the children room that had a rocket that took you to the internet city. Sites were buildings like Lucid and it had a sewer cover that took you to the TEN multiplayer game network. I'll get mine out and post the video.

  • Extreme of nostalgia. Hopefully there's a disc image of this. Wow.

I thought this was Win 95. It's PACKARD BELL NAVIGAT0R CLASSYNESS !! Sucked in for soooooo so much as a wee little jit. Sheesh..
