oh my word that's fantastic as the 9th doctor would say

I love this version, but I can understand why the production team wanted to have a new theme, it doesn't really match the chaos and fast paced look of the titles.
Really cool to see what it would've been like though, thanks for uploading :)

@Timtarheel Yes, it was created with each individual note cut together, put there are no natuarl noises in the bassline or main melody, the only part of any original Doctor Who opening were they plucked a stirng is the EEEEEEEeeoooo at the begining of each episode.

bland theme no but i would of prefered the troughton/pertwee version

@SlamageEntertainment This piece of music is legendary for its creative impact. It's not a guitar or bass at all (see the last post). It might seem bland to you now, but that's because so many of its original elements have saturated music since it was created.

Делия, она хороший композитор. Жаль, что она умерла

@Mozzyeon I absolutely adore the ending.
Deliberately making it sound like a broken record.
Other musicians would have avoided such repetition like the plague, but Delia grabs it, reinforces it and emphasises it - so that it does, indeed, go through your ears and penetrate into your skull.
She purposefully signs off with an "earworm".
Even when the music's ended, you can still hear it inside your head.
Just think about it and it's right back there playing over and over in your mind.

I like the strings in the new version, but for me you can't beat the original twangy theme :)

@butiamthedoctor To be honest I think both are excellent. Glad you found some enjoyment from this though.
The problem is, is that It doesn't match up, This intro is quite climatic, The Tardis and the camera is zipping through the Time Vortex, and a slow and truthfully Bland theme, with just a guitar or bass repeating the same thing over and over again.

@SlamageEntertainment Opinions are opinions, but there's an interesting element behind your note on repetition. As I understand it, "each and every note was individually created by cutting, splicing, speeding up and slowing down segments of analogue tape containing recordings of a single plucked string, white noise, and the simple harmonic waveforms of test-tone oscillator." While some might find it bland to the ear, the way it was created is, in my opinion, creative.
