This is a presentation designed to concisely illustrate a general overview of ving tsun. Strike from any hand position, yiu ma/biu ma coordinated with techniques, stepping kicking. All of these are in the 3 forms and dummy. None of this nonsense about whether you think Ip Man would like/dislike this form. Ip Man trained hard and spoke softly. If you practice mo duk and your skill is good then that is your greatest contribution to ving tsun.

Too many people are using Ip Man's reputation as their credit. Too many people have the mentality that Ip Man's skill is endgame. There is an old saying in Wing Chun, "Do not talk about seniors and juniors in Wing Chun, the one who obtains skill first is senior". If you are not striving to become better than your sifu and to improve your art, you are failing your art and your master. Ip Man would be turning over in his grave if he saw Wing Chun politics today.

@EmbraceTheThunder Couldn't they have done that....with Chi Sau?

@Warkiam Bear in mind, these were the purpose of the form as I was taught it, so it may differ from yours...But the logic still stands.

@ownage4000 I agree...The whole point of SLT is to develope body structure. Chum kui to develope moving body structure and to recover a lost, but undamaged, structure. Biu Tze is for recovering a lost structure in cases of emergency (lost centerline control). Mix the forms together and it becomes hard to know what you're learning.

I find this form very confusing. The 3 forms are separated with a reason. One form alone holds the information that needs a day to teach. If you combine them you need to skip a lot of information. The forms also teaches you Ving Tsun step by step, so you're not gonna rush the system. This form resembles teaching a baby to stand up and let him run a thousand miles.

The 4th form was created by Ip Ching, Ip Man's son, in respect for his father's wishes to create a form that fluently combines and demonstrates the 3 hand forms and core of ving tsun.
It took Ip Ching most of his life to develop this.
It is what Ip Man wanted.

@phoenixeyefist Martial arts are dead. It's up to you to dig them up and make them your own. Keep what works for you and disregard anything that doesn't

@nbz1973 first, leung ting is not corrupt. Second, talents were made to be shared and used for the greater good of everyone, not kept to one's own self and third, wing chun was invented by men and can be modified by men. There was never a law either from God or man criminalizing the alteration or modification of an art.
if it aint broke why fix it.
ip man/yip man wing chun is
a classic
a work of art
a masterpiece
i believe yip man would be very disappointed the way wing chun is turning into.. a circus.
i do classical yip man wing chun as well as gulao. i would not change a single move nor technique. not invent a new form that is not really new. a mish-mash from the old ones.
wing chun is a lot deeper than just forms. research the true wing chun then its worth it.. plus wing chun flows..

I agree... corrupt men such as Leung Ting came along and change a few things and stole all the rights to Yip Man's Fame... Yip Man never even Claimed to be a MASTER. He would be disgusted that Wing Chun is being Taught by self proclaimed Sifus around the world.. I am proud to belong to a very close to the top Leung Sheung / Paul Lam Lineage and is as close to Yip Man's Style as you can get. Hard and fast No BS get the hell outta my way Wing Chun NOT Wing Tsun or Ving Ding
