@Virus2020 More of a "nigger" cigarette than a gender biased one.

Maybe if she stuck to making me a sandwich she wouldn't have lung cancer..

@reymatt76 in the foreground with both of them smoking. And then the housewife says "well I'm going to ring my husband now and tell him to pick up 10 cartons on his way home."

If I were a Kool tobacco exec, I would show an ad where they show a housewife at home ironing clothes, and smoking and her friend comes over to watch soaps because the housewife who's hosting just got a new TV and wanted to show it off. The housewife tells her girlfriend "Yeah I'm so glad he got the TV. Wish I could say the same for these cigarettes, they taste flat, dry." The friend offers her Kool, then they cut away to the closing credits in the background and ashtray full of spent Kools

@Virus2020 I think Kool was trying to appeal to both men and women, because they probably didn't want to get pigeon-holed into being a man's cigarette. The woman complains about her cigarette, the man is there to save her by giving her a Kool, she is grateful the man introduced her to Kools, and she makes them her new brand. They've also had the same scenario featuring 2 men, usually co-workers or something. Interestingly enough they've never shown two women in an ad. I wonder why.

@Virus2020 If memory serves me, Kool during the 80s featured more of a male motif, if you will, if not exclusively running advertising series that exclusively featured males. Like, the Kool guy on the motorcycle, or "There's only one way to play it..." Some brands, Kool being one of them, through the years have changed their brand imagery extensively... sometimes Kool campaigns featured guys, girls, or couples. I've always liked cigarette ads which feature women, couples, or groups of people.

Interesting... I hadn't noticed that. Do you think it was intentional? If so, do you think the suggestion is something to the effect that the female model is an 'eyeful' with her Kool in hand?
