Windows xp and vista has free download called "moviemaker", and all webcams come with free moviemaker software also. Don't buy the cheapy webcam, buy the medium quality or it's hopeless. Professional quality software is "Sony Vegas" or "Ulead", cheap on ebay, but you still need the webcam. Another trick is that flash clips or slide shows, even animated gifs can also be converted to avi movies.
